Text: Amos 3:3

(This piece is an excerpt from the book: GODLY COUNSELS FOR SINGLE LADIES ON SEXUAL MATTERS. To order for a copy, send an email to lifeoasis@hotmail.com.)

In a relationship, you can only know yourself because people can be deceptive. Sly, pretence, cover-up are part and parcel of the human nature that is not redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. That is why you must depend on the Holy Spirit to guide you and also relate with men that are led and controlled by the Holy Spirit.

Don’t go after your desire or emotions; go after God - His direction, His principles and ways - and you won’t fall into wrong hands.

Listed below are some of the characteristics of a joker, someone who is not looking for a serious relationship with you but only wants fun and leaves you when he’s done! You must not be found with such people.

1. He is free with your body: Touches you anywhere and everywhere possible, has no respect for the marriage covenant, can lay you for sex anywhere.

2. He is free with your things. With boldface he opens your bag/purse to take money, phone, valuable things in your room etc.

3. He doesn’t declare his assets to you. You don’t know what he has and all he has.

4. He doesn’t reveal all his movements to you. You only find out and some you never find out where he went and with whom.

5. He has some private phone numbers you don’t know and sometimes his line doesn’t go through, while other people he rates important can get him through other lines.

6. He has close relationships you don’t know about – family and friends.

7. He never talks about marriage and if you do, that belongs to the F-U-T-U-R-E to him! You are now 33 and you’ve been engaged to him for 10years - since you were 23 - and he is still not talking about marriage!

8. He is always futuristic in his plans with you. Never talks of what you both can do now.

9. He makes critical plans alone and tells you not to bother. His decisions on issues do not carry you along. Not enthusiastic about joint operations with you.

10. He tactically withdraws from your own family getting involved with him.

11. He always talks of you helping him and not vice versa.

12. He doesn’t want the Pastor to be involved; he doesn’t want to be accountable. He avoids anything binding on him. He is never committed.

13. He doesn’t talk openly about your relationship to people everywhere. Your pictures are not displayed, his family doesn’t know you that much. He never introduces you to his parents and siblings as the one he wants to marry! He calls you a colleague, friend or course mate, etc.

14. He relates with the opposite sex as a free man that is still available.

15. When you think he loves you and he sleeps with you and you get pregnant, he either disowns the pregnancy, telling you he’s not sure he is the only one visiting your “holy sanctuary”, or he quickly suggests abortion!

Exhibit caution as a single lady and you’ll be safe.

- Don’t take regular free ride with a man.

- Don’t dress for him.

- Don’t receive and give undefined gifts.

- Don’t go into excessive discussions with him.

- Don’t become free to touch or to be touched.

- Don’t visit a man alone in his house or room, let alone S-L-E-E-P there!

- Don’t sleep where men are hanging around.

A joker will waste your time, waste your emotions, waste your resources, waste your commitment and waste your purpose and essence for living. A joker will join you to a strange destiny. Get yourself preserved.

Go for a man that will hook you to destiny like Mary and Joseph, Elizabeth and Zechariah, Ruth and Boaz, not one that will lustfully enjoy and waste the cream of your womanhood as Shechem did for Dinah (Gen. 34:1-2) and bring you under a curse, cutting you off from a godly heritage.

May you follow the right person into destiny in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Dealing Victoriously with Your Past Life

Text: Gal 2:20
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who love me, and gave himself for me”.

2Cor 5:16 “Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we Him no more”.

Eph 2:1-13 “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Not of works, lest any man should boast.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Gal 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Everybody has a past except for a new born baby that has no records of living and over the years, I have seen and found out that people, most of the time do not handle the events that happened to them in their past well enough for it not to be a snare unto their present or their future. Many people are limited in life, most are taking another course or direction apart from what God had ordained for them because of the manner they handled their previous stage of life.

There are many things in your life that you are not actually responsible for because that time, you could not have taken a better decision, that is, what you have been made to live with, brought up with and things like that! I believe that God will supply understanding and fill you with wisdom to be able to have a fulfilled life. Nobody project fully into their future when there are things that are holding them here and there in their past, hence many people today are living lopsided life. But you see, the advantage you have as a child of God is that you have a God who can work on your existence. He can handle things that have happened in your past that is affecting you now and which can still affect you years to come.

Each time God looks at you, His focus is more on what you are to become and what He wants to make of you, so the ministrations that God sent into your life of course may help you today but you see, the focus of god is on what you are becoming tomorrow because tomorrow is going to outlast today and yesterday, so for you as a child of God, it is wisdom to cooperate with the word God is speaking because God sharpens you with His words; when God wants to do something in your life, He starts sending his words into your life to take you in that direction. When wants to take you somewhere, He does not send a luxurious bus, he sends His words. The God is sending you is to propel you to a future, so it is not necessarily something to make you feel good in your today. So when God begins to speak and send His word, His attention is in what he wants to make of you and where you are going.

We are looking at dealing victoriously with your past life. Text Gal 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who love me, and gave himself for me”. The passage helps you compartmentalize your life.

Your life is in phases: the past life you have lived before, the present: the life you are living now and the future: the life you are yet to live.

In the context of this write up, your past life is the life you lived before you met Christ. We want to look at how your past life can affect your today and even your future, if not probably dealt with. Some ladies’ past life is also their “present life” and the only difference is that church has been added to it, we need to review your conversion. For a healthy Christian, there must be a demarcation between life before Christ and life after Christ. When there is no demarcation, when it looks the same, then I put a big question mark on your salvation. I doubt if you are saved.

2Cor 5:16 “Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we Him no more”.

Some people never dealt with their past life, so there is no demarcation between the time they claim to have become saved and the time they were sinners, some try to deal with their past life in an inappropriate manner but were never free from its grip: they kept going back or it kept pursuing them and some have dealt victoriously with their ugly past and they are now basking in the beauty of the Lord with a glorious future awaiting them. You need to join this happy throng! So let’s look at some of the truth that you must be well established in as a child of God that will help you detach cleanly from the struggles of the past and move into your future.

Here Are Some Truths You Must Be Well Established In As A Child Of God. (Read All The Bible Passages Indicated After Each Point)

· Every unsaved person who has not met Christ has the devil’s nature and is capable of any kind of evil. Eph 2:3, Rom 7:18,19,24.

· Self-righteousness is not enough for salvation. Morality is only relevant after salvation, it does not save! Isaiah 64:6

· Anyone can come to Jesus and be forgiven, cleansed and saved if they repent and believe in Him. No matter how terrible their sins are! Isaiah 1:18, John 6:37

· Once you come to God, He forgives you and does not keep record of your evil deeds. Col 2:14

· The blood of Jesus cleanses from all ALL unrighteousness. Heb 9:14

· The death of Jesus dealt with our sins. The nature of sin, the power to sin and the consequences of sin have been dealt with. Gal 2:19-20

· He is our substitute

· After you are saved, you cann only sin by your WILL, not satanic compulsion a s some people claim to be. Titus 2:11-12

· You can return to your old ways. Heb 10:39

· If you continue to sin, don’t expect grace to abound. Rom 6:1

· If you feel guilty over the past, it is either;

1. The devil wants to cheat you.

2. You are deliberately covering up issues. Rom 8:1

· Don’t cover your sins, expose them and be free! Prov 28:13

So How Can Your Past Now Affect Your Future?

1. If you did things that have brought spirits into your life. e.g
Occultic help, incision marks, items given to eat/drink or rub as cream or used in any form

  • Demonic practices such as incantations or/and oath taken with blood or words.
  • Prophesying or seeing vision in red or yellow garment churches or occultic centres
  • Strange/weird sex practices.
  • Prostitutions; and such more issues.

2. If it is an ongoing falsehood, cheating or lies, then you need to confess and expose them in order to stop it. For example;

i. Telling lies that you the sister of a boy that is your biological son.

ii. Age reduction or increase

iii. Using forged certificate or another person’s certificate.

iv. Selling your body for money; either in prostitution or paying back because someone sponsored your schooling.

v. Somebody helping you to write exams, etc.

Seek pastoral counsel if there is a need for restitution.

How To Detach Gloriously From Your Past, So That You Can Soar Into The Future And Be Free Forever.

· See the evilness of the past and quit

· Stop the actions/deeds of the past

· Be delivered from all forces of the past; this can be by;

Conversion; of your course if you are born again you have done that, you gave your life to Christ. You have a change of heart.

The word and the spirit; you begin to read the bible and come under the influence of the Holy Spirit.

Going through deliverance ministrations; don’t say you are doing self-deliverance. There is nothing like self-deliverance. Be thoroughly ministered to before you start standing by yourself on God’s word for your on-going liberty.

Deliverance and continuous separation. Live a consecrated life daily. 2Cor 6:14-end.

How To Handle A Core Of Relatives, Friends, Neighbors And Colleagues Who Choose To Forces That You Want To Separate From:

v Relate physically with them; for you are still in this world but detach from them in your spirit. You can relate with people physically while within you, you are not coming under that flow.

v Disallow a level of intimacy that can either command a flow from them to you or cause a transfer of negative things to you. Don’t allow any form of submission, admiration, followership or acceptance from you to them, for these factors will open the door of heart to heart flows/transfers of spirits.

v Before you open up to people, at least, have a clue of what they worship with and what spirit is ruling in their lives.

Lastly, avoid anything that can take you back to the past life; people, places, thoughts, movies, books, websites, programmes and events. Let Jesus take you to your future; it is glorious.

Relate with people on the same journey of destiny of destiny, who are committed to Christ, who possess their vessel in sanctification and let the Lord have His way in your life EVERYDAY!

May the Lord depend on you.

Questions and Answers

Question: If a strange garment false prophet prophesies spontaneously about someone, what should one do?

Answer: Just bind that spirit immediately, if it is in a respectable atmosphere where you can’t do a confrontation show, maybe it’s pour mother’s pastor, your authority is in the spirit not a physical struggle, so where you can say, “I take authority over that spirit, I bind you. I reject that prophecy, I reject that spirit and I cancel it in Jesus’ name” and don’t carry out any such instructions. If any instruction is given that you should go and buy 77 biros and go and distribute 771/2 children, and you know those stuff, don’t carry out any such instruction, just cancel it, and if after you have canceled it like that, you still feel troubled inside you, call your pastor so that they reinforce you in the spirit.

Question: How much gain can I make on my business that is on the goods I sell? What percentage gain can I make and still be a good Christian?

Answer: That’s a good question, conscience matters; I will ask you to read that book, Conscience matters if you have not. As a child of God, when you are selling, whatever you are selling, there would be a standard price that it is Abi, ehen, when you too sell at a standard price and if you meet a Christian that you know you want to give a Christian treatment, you can give them a discount but not to hurt your own business because if they don’t buy from you, they will as well go and buy from somewhere else that they will pay the same amount but go and tell somebody, “Ah! Sister Buki, because it’s you, ₦20,000 is the price, but I’ll sell it to you at ₦18,000”. Sister Buki now go and find out that the thing is ₦10,000 outside, you are not a Christian, you are preparing your way to hell, is that not what you are doing? You don’t now exploit Christians, they are the ones around you and they are buying from you and they won’t go and check out, so you are cheating them, that will be very wrong but when it comes to selling, there is nothing wrong to sell at the normal price that everybody is selling. I mean, there will always be a standard price for whatever item, a sha niye tan ta, oniye to ra, oniye to gbodo ta, so you too function at that level, but when you meet Christians, always give concession to Christians especially the ones you know, even if it is just ₦50 discount, ₦100 that you can afford, not to go and hurt your business some Christians like to go and exploit people. Ah! ‘Sister’ and they won’t pay until they ruin your business, so to such people, close your eyes and collect your money neat and use water to wash their hand, you understand what I’m saying, because there are some Christians like that that destroy other Christians businesses, don’t allow them. So you must not have any conscience problem in selling, and if you want to sow a seed, if it’s a minister of God that you want to sell to, you must know. How to sow seeds, if you can’t give it, and then sell at a cost price to a genuine servant of God, God will put His hand on your business.

Question: Between when a brother proposes and when you give your answer, please Ma how do you behave towards him properly as a spirit led woman?

Answer: This is what you do when you are planning to say yes. When you receive a proposal and you have known it is NO, don’t waste the brother’s time, I’ve told you till we go in rapture, men will be attracted to women and they will come after them. You are the one that must know what you are doing. Does God want me in this relationship or not? After all, you too, it’s not every time that you are in the spirit. If you too have the laborious task to propose, you may make the mistakes so many times, don’t you think so? So if it is a No, don’t waste time but don’t shut him down upfront.

After he has summoned courage to tell you; “as I was just praying, every time I look at you, I prayed about it, this and thus, I just fell…” whatever way he wants to say…. He tells you and then you… clap your hands, Hmm, all sorts, No! That is not the right way to treat a son of God, he’s your brother and he is a child of God, so you don’t treat people anyhow. You never can tell when you are going to meet again, you never can tell who that person is going to be in your future, is that okay? So you learn to treat people nicely. No matter who comes to propose, listen to what they have to say, treat them nicely and let him go and when you feel you have already known your answer is No, just invite the person for a chat, “sorry I prayed about it, I don’t feel led in that direction…” and things like that but that shouldn’t stop us from relating and help him graciously go over it and go to another subject and talk about some other things, give him a drink, if you have food, you can serve him some food. Make him feel good as he leaves. Don’t be rude to him such that he doesn’t know how he will leave, whether he will just use his head to walk or will use his leg to leave the place. Make it easy on him, and when next you see him, don’t say come here and then take your advantage. No, No, No! Make him very free because he is wondering how he missed God, etc. make him very free and then even go the extra mile to pray for him. Lord, help him to get it right. That’s being a Christian but if the answer is going to be yes and the brother has proposed. Don’t say yes upfront now saying “Ah praise God you came, you know I’ve been waiting…! I’m sure the brother himself will be surprised. No brother goes to propose expecting an immediate answer, no matter how long you have been waiting, even if you know before or you are knowing right there and then because your spirit is sharp, you have a knowing. Just say you have heard. I will pray about it and then when you know, so leave it that and sincerely pray about it and then when you know that the relationship has not started, there is no relating, just relate the normal way if you are on the same vicinity where you relate, just relate the way you do before.

Don’t start doing things that he’ll start wondering what is wrong with you. Just do the things you do normally and everything and leave it at that and when you are ready with your answer, you come up with your answer. But before you give your answer as a lady, cross check with your confirmer. Is that okay? Cross check with your confirmer and don’t force your will on them. If you come to me and you are insisting on that is what you want to do, I’ll leave you alone. So that you won’t come to me and say Mummy you didn’t talk. I will leave you alone if you insist. When I tell you my caution, I’ll leave you to what you want to decide. Is that okay? Since I’m not a witch, I can’t force you against your wish but I will give you enough direction and clue to let you know. In fact, I know people, they won’t let me talk; before I say I, they reply me with four so that will do, I will keep quiet, since you know more than me, the student must keep quiet to hear the teacher, not so? And when you are ready with the answer, don’t keep the brother waiting too long either. When he comes, it is either you tell him you’ll talk about it next month, give him time so that he knows when he can come back because the dilemma some sisters have now is that she wants to say yes, but how will I tell him? At times I say you can send him a text and tell him there is a matter to talk so he should see you and have a chat and then you tell him.

Following The Submission of Jesus’ Will To The Father

In the past editions of these series, we have considered the carnal choices made by Esau and Lot. We established that the choices you make are a pointer to your outcome in life. In this issue, we will look at the example of Jesus, how He surrendered His power of choice to the Father and how we, His body on earth, should emulate Him.

John 7:17 says “If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.” The emphasis here is on “If any man will do” that is, anyone can choose to handover that will power into the hands of the Lord.

The above verse of scripture shows us that God has a will and you also have a will. Sometime ago, a man of God defined the cross as where the will of God crosses your will and you have to submit to God’s will; you have your own will just like Jesus did. He had His will, He had the power of choice, but He handed it over to the father and so everywhere He went, He said, “I can of myself do nothing.” –John 5:30a.

Of course Jesus Christ could do something of Himself, because when He was about to be arrested by His accusers, He said if it were not His Father’s will for Him to die at that time, He would have commanded legions of angels heaven to fight them.

And you know what legion of angels can do, a single angel killed 185,000 people in one instant, therefore if legions of angels had to come down, nobody would have been left in Jerusalem that day, but it was His Father’s will to go through the suffering and to die.

That is perfect example of a will power that is yielded over to the control of the Lord. The servant of God, Reverend Olusola Areogun, told us that he had his own plans when he entered the University. He wanted to be a Professor of Electronics at a very young age and he was an excellent student, he came out of secondary school with a very brilliant performance. He went for A levels, he cleared the 3 subjects he did excellently (3 “A”s), as well as an excellent University performance.

The will of the Lords came against his own will and he had to make a decision, he had to yield. This doesn’t mean God is calling everybody into full time ministry, but God has a will for your life; discover it and yield to it and daily choosing His will for you.

I have been in gatherings where the Lord led me to make a call for people that have the call of God upon their lives but have kept quiet about it, I was shocked when people stood up and they were weeping because you can have a peculiar dealing of God in your spirit and not talk to anybody about it and nobody will know and you’ll keep it to yourself and you’ll keep living your normal life, doing normal things and people will think you are okay, but struggles will go on within you.

There is a God’s will for you not even in terms of ministry alone but on everything you do. One man of God said he loved hot legs in ladies and of course he got one! Everybody always love one thing or the other. When I was to marry, just like everybody whether male or female, at the time you’re single you star projecting in your mind, thinking of a kind of a lady, (or man) you want to marry. You can always get what you like, if you press for it. But, is what you like God’s will for you?

I remember those days of my carnal desires, I was born again, filled with the Holy Spirit but I disliked light complexioned men, I believe that a man should not be light in complexion, thinking “why should you be light complexioned, are you a woman?” thus, I desired somebody very dark and tall.

When God spoke to me and said “this is the person that you are going to marry”. Here, God’s will crossed mine and if I’d chosen my own will, nobody would have known about it. It is wrong to think that when you reject God’s will or plan for your life, something terrible will happen to you the following day. It is not always so. In fact, it is the mercy of God that causes that occasionally for people.

If a child of God goes out of God’s will and something negative quickly happens to put him back on the right path, that is a demonstration of God’s mercy; it does not happen for some people.

You’ll be suprised when we get to heaven and you see people that carry the anointing in the order of Benny Hinn who died in multinational companies! They never stepped into that calling because they made a carnal choice. For your life not to be characterized by carnal choices, make it a principle in your life to always make spiritual choices even if the matterat hand seems not to serious. Let it become part and parcel of you never to make carnal decisions and choices, but to choose according to the spiritual standard of the Almighty God.

All of Jesus’ decisions and choices were divine and never carnal. They were designed to suit God not Himself. In every decision Jesus made, He was never the focus, God was. And concerning His last decision of dying on the cross, despite the fact that He had agreed in heaven, (John had seen a revelation that the Lamb of God was slain before the foundation of the world Rev. 13:8) when He stood before Pilate, He still had to make a decision.

“Should I go ahead? Should I turn back?” And the devil would have whispered “just tell me something and I’ll believe you. Just do any sign and wonder and I’ll release you.” But Jesus didn’t take a release even though His flesh wanted a release. In the garden of Gethsemane He was there praying, “If it is possible, let this cup pass over me”-that was the flesh. Therefore, don’t think Jesus operated like a robot, moving every time God pressed the remote control in His hand.

No! He had a will, He had to make a decision, He had to make a choice every morning, yet He had to decide to do the Father’s will and not His own. He said, “O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt (Mt. 26:39).” He ascertained what the will of the Father was and He gave in to it. Just like the message Reverend Areogun preached, Jesus had to “lose to win” many Christians are letting their will win over the Lord’s will but they simply winning to lose later. Now it is your turn, the choice is yours.

In Genesis 6:3, the Lord says “My Spirit shall not always strive with man…” That means two things;

· The Holy Spirit will strive with you

· The H Spirit will not forever strive with you.

There is a time the Holy Spirit stops striving. How does He strive with us? When you have your own will that you embrace and He comes with His will and purposes; there is usually a struggle and as the struggle continues, He says, “I will strive with you. I will contend so that I can win in your life.”

If you lose and allow Him to win as it were, giving up your own personal choice and desire, what happens? The Lord moves in your life. You move into a place of power with God but when He struggles with you and you struggle in return until you win, what does He do? He gives up, He throws in the towel, He admits defeat in that life and that life will never be able to amount to anything in the programme of God.

It’s my prayer that you’ll always be relevant in God’s plan and purpose on the earth in Jesus’ name. People that exercise their will for themselves worship the god called self. One day, the Lord opened my eyes to see the difference between myself and my person.

Your self is different from your person. Your flesh is your self, that self, that thing that you want for yourself apart from God is different from your person. God values your person, your real person. You are a spirit, you have a soul, you live in a body; there are some decisions that you have acquired in the flesh over time that forms yourself that when somebody talks, you say “I, myself, I can’t take that,” that’s not the real you.

The bible says you should cut off all those things. Deal with those carnal desires that rise up in your flesh, everybody has it and you’ll have to deal with them. Even in a small child, you see his will forming as he grows up. He knows what he wants. You may tell him “Sit down there” and he shrugs his shoulder. What he is saying to you is that “I don’t want to. I have my will. You can’t tell me to sit down!”

Dangers of Choosing Self Interest above God's Purpose

Text: Genesis 13, 14 and 19 Rev. (Mrs) Oyenike Areogun
Our choices determine our final outcomes in life. We have seen Esau’s carnal choice and in this edition we will consider the carnal choice of Lot.

Lot’s problem began when started making decisions based on himself. Lot was a young boy whose uncle Abraham took along after his father and grandfather died. The first thing that happened to Lot was that, he started separating property for himself. As you are growing older, check your heart and see certain things that you have started desiring for yourself, in career, financially, mentally and other aspect of your life. Be careful for these things because the enemy is going to use them as a contention against your destiny.

A brother in church was going to marry a lady and like our custom in the church we needed to see the lady. He proposed to her two years earlier with no success but after she learnt of his opportunity to travel abroad, she gave a positive reply. When he informed me about the sister’s consent, I said “okay who won’t say yes?” So I said let us have a chat with the lady and when the lady came, she said she had her list. She would go ahead rating people with her list, just like I had my own list also, although not like hers, but an image in my heart of the kind of husband I would like to marry and the person God brought for me did not that description at all. Be careful about what is forming your will, because things you desire now and allow to influence you will form your will. Things that press you now to take action will affect your decision.

Lot separated properties. Everything he did was because of himself. He never prayed asking “God, what’s your plan, why am I attached to this man to go with him?” If he did God would have told him about the covenant on Abraham. He was busy planning for himself. Don’t plan for yourself. The plan that God had for you is greater than anything you can ever plan for yourself. One day God spoke to me, “what I will you is far, far greater than what you can ever get for yourself, so wait for me”. Lot began to have separate proper ties, which led to the strife that removed him from favour and divine covering under Abraham.

What are the secret plans of your heart? What desires are already forming in your heart that you have left unchecked? If you look at Jacob and Esau, the bible says Isaac loved Esau because he prepared venison for him and Rebecca loved Jacob. Of course the way they went about it was crooked but what gave birth to Rebecca’s love for Jacob was the word that came to her. “Two nations are in your womb, the elder will serve the younger”. So she loved Jacob because of the choice of God but for Isaac, the venison blocked him from perceiving who God chose among the two. If not for what Rebecca did, despite the fact that God’s choice was Jacob, Isaac could have gone ahead and blessed Esau and would have turned God’s programme upside down. You also have to be careful what you love secretly.

Be careful about the secret love in your heart because it will form the bedrock of your will that will determine your will in life. Lot chose the wrong option of separating from Abraham. Abraham said, “why don’t you and I’ll go to the left, we don’t need to fight, we are brethren”. And Lot took the option. He could have said, “No uncle, I don’t want that, we are together, we can solve this problem”, rather he chose separation because he was thinking of himself. Lot must have thought in his heart “yes, I will now have breathing space, afterwards I have enough things”. Don’t make yourself the goal of your choices. Make God the goal of your choices because He will secure a great future for you in every way and at all times.

Lot chose the well watered places of the plain of Jordan, not knowing that was Sodom and Gomorrah. In verse ten of chapter 13 when Abraham suggested separation to Lot, the bible says “And Lot lifted up his eyes and beheld all the plains of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere…” The grass was very green and he chose it for himself but God was not in it. He simply calculated with his eyes saying, “this will be a good place for my animals, this will be a good place for me, I don’t need to go down the valley, it’s a plain, it will be good for me”. And he stayed there. You cannot make decisions about your future on what you see today because bible says, things that are temporal whereas, the things that you cannot see (but God can see) are those that determine the future. They are things that are eternal. Lot chose the watered plain; he didn’t know he was choosing Sodom and Gomorrah. That’s the danger of choosing for yourself based on what you see today, based on selfish interests. The plain that looks well watered today may be Sodom and Gomorrah destined for destruction by fire tomorrow.

When Sodom and Gomorrah was due for destruction, and the angels asked Lot and his house to escape to the mountain, he chose somewhere else (Gen. 19:17-20), saying he was afraid, evil beast could kill him there. Can you see, Lot had developed a life of making decisions based on his self-interest. If God told him to escape to a mountain, He must have considered the possibility of beasts attacking him. But Lot was making provision for himself outside of God’s provision. Lot went to another place where there was no other man and his daughters came up with a satanic idea saying, “There’s no human being again on the face of the earth” and they decided to sleep with their father and have children by him. Lot kept on making decisions based on himself and his selfish interest instead of the overall programme of God that would have secured a great future for him on the earth and eternally. You should understand that spiritual choices affect this life and eternity.

When Jesus went about his three-and-a-half year’s ministry and spoke to those disciples saying “Come follow me, and I will make you fishers of men”, they didn’t know they were securing for themselves a powerful apostolic ministry on the earth and a powerful position in heaven, an eternal place. There is going to be a special seat for the twelve apostles of the lamb that you and I cannot occupy because we were not with them.

The consequences of Lot’s carnal choice were very severe. The first thing that happened to him was that he was taken captive. There was no fight in surrounding places but in Sodom and Gomorrah where Lot went; everybody was taken captive with everything he had. God had to use the same Abraham that he separated from to restore him and bring him back. God was giving him a chance for repentance but he didn’t take it. God is a God of another chance. Regardless of the mistakes you have made, God will always leave an open door for your return, and you must always take that opportunity.. all the pleasantness that lured Lot away from Abraham and the properties he gathered were all burnt with fire. He couldn’t pack anything because they had to hurry out, himself, the wife and his two daughters.

My husband always asks, “What will you be doing in 16 years’ time?” These questions are meant to show you that the decisions you make today will determine whether everything you gathered in the last five years will get burnt in the next ten years or you will be waxing stronger, moving on in the things of the Lord. Lot’s wife became a pillar of salt, but when they loved each other and exchanged marital vows, he didn’t he was marrying a pillar of salt. He didn’t know he was choosing woman who will set a negative record in biblical history; the only person that became pillar of salt. There were never anyone like that before her and there will never be another after her and even Jesus referred to her in the gospel. He said, “Remember Lot’s wife.”

Are you choosing a wife today that is going to become a pillar of salt in a decade from now? Is your wife going to look back? God instructed them, don’t look back, don’t turn right just escape to the mountain. When she got along the way, she remembered something, probably the money she lent someone that was yet to be repaid. Maybe some trinkets she left behind. We know however that whatever she remembered was weightier in her heart above the instructions God gave her. She turned back, she didn’t turn forward again. She just decomposed into a pillar of salt. You need to ask yourself, based on the decision today, are you choosing a pillar of salt for a spouse? Whenever you are making a choice, don’t think of today, think of tomorrow. When you are making a choice, don’t think of what you can see in that thing today, think of the potential, think of what is going to become of that thing tomorrow.

A sister got engaged to a brother on the campus and when they were to graduate, the brother had an extra year and then stayed back in school. The sister went to serve and she felt “well I can’t cope, I can’t continue.” She forgot whatever God told her about the relationship. You know when you go to NYSC camp, you will see all kinds of brethren and that’s why people always want to get engaged before they leave school. Final year brethren come under pressure, but you shouldn’t come under pressure. You are still going to meet more brothers and sisters than you have ever met, don’t if you don’t get engaged now, you may not find someone to settle with.

The worst place to get engaged is the NYSC camp except God has arranged it for you like that. This is because you don’t know where those people are coming from. And some people come to camp for the sole purpose of hooking a sister or a brother, and if you are hook able, it will be too bad. What are you choosing today? What will it turn to in five years’ time? Have you asked yourself? Thank God that the rate at which students dying on campus has gone down. There was a time it was very rampant. They shot this one here, they shot that one there. Maybe God doesn’t want them on that campus. Maybe it was another place that they should go to where their lives will be preserved. But they chose based on “my friend has gone there, I must go there too or it’s close to my uncle’s office, so I can be going there to collect money.” They must have made decisions based on their selfish interest instead of the overall plan of God for their lives. You won’t lose your life in Jesus’ name. Lot’s two daughters became perverted because a daughter sleeping with a father was unheard of in Israel. It was not part of the Jewish heritage; it was an abomination, they must have picked that idea from Sodom. They picked it from Gomorrah because Sodom and Gomorrah were extremely given to immorality, sodomy, lesbianism and homosexuality. Everything about sexual perversion and immorality was found in Sodom and Gomorrah, it was too much, God couldn’t stand them, He had to destroy them with fire to show His anger against their sinful acts. Lot chose the watered gardens so that his animals would eat to survive and then his animals could become more in number than Abraham’s. That was his intention not knowing he has chosen a land that would negatively disciple his daughters into sexual perversion. As a result, Lot came out with two perverted daughters. There is no gain in carnal choice. The only gain is the satisfaction of your appetite in the plate of pottage, and after five minutes, it is over. That is the only effect that carnal choice is going to have in your life. Every other thing is damaged.

Where did his children come up with that idea? Who told them that there was no other person on that earth? What of Abraham and his own family? Even if there were no other people but they know that Abraham was not dead. He had many male servants, many maids, many servants and many people around him that were still living on the earth, but the devil had perverted them. That was what they learned in Sodom and Gomorrah and that’s why you need to pray ahead when you are going to school. Pray concerning your room mates, don’t just assume that you always live with anybody. My husband always talks about developing a strong spirit. There is positive strong spirit, positive weak spirit, living in a room with somebody with a negative strong spirit, he will over power you in that room with his deeds and before you know what is happening, you can come under that influence. The place where you are, you can get influenced by the spirit of the land if you don’t generate a greater force in your own spirit to dominate the spirit of the land and on the campuses where there are terrible spirits and multinational spirits that bring from different places that they have been to.

Do you notice a strange atmosphere when school just resumes, they are coming with all sorts of demons, principalities and powers from different places and when your spirit is weak, strange ideas, and strange thoughts begin to occur to you. You want to begin to a[pear like unbelievers, you want to begin to do what they do and if you don’t control your thoughts and overwhelm you, you’ll begin to behave like that. Lot’s daughters produced children for him, can you imagine that? Can you imagine getting pregnant for your father and actually giving birth to those children? Will you be able to tell them their father is the same as their grandfather?

It was a serious abomination and those whose children became a cursed forever, “Moab and Ammon” and you know they were the ones that came against Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20. See how God came out against them terribly to wipe them out. Carnal choices give birth strange seeds that God rises up to cut off in the future! You will not be cut off in Jesus’ name. the work of your hand will not be destroyed in Jesus’ name. Each time I read this place, and I look at the life of Lot, I pity him because the loss was too much and the choices he made weren’t worth his losses.

Question and Answer

Question: Is it right for women in some Penticostal churches who don’t cover their heads in the church and some Obas who put on small caps in the church?

Answer: 1 Cor. 11:1-16 answers this question. If you read this passage, you will know that what people assume does not matter, matters. It matters so much that God allowed Paul to write about.

4. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoreth hi s head.

5. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoreth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

10. For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.

13. Judge in yourselves; is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?

The issue of covering your head as a woman or not is primarily about during spiritual activities, not at all times. Whenever you are involved in spiritual activities such as prophesying (which happens most times in the house of the Lord), cover your head as a woman and uncover your head as a man. This matter does not affect your salvation but it affects your relationship with the spirit realm. This means for example that if the symbol of authority on a woman is not there while praying, it will affect the operations of the angels.

In verse 13 of I Cor. 11, comely or proper has to do with maturity. Therefore, it is immature as a Christian woman to pray without covering her hair. It is spiritual rebellion and a doctrine of the devil aimed at robbing people of the total provision of God. No one should violate God’s instruction that are written clearly on the pages of the Bible. Remember that American culture is not the Bible.

Getting Ready for Destiny Marriage

Your marriage will determine how the rest of your life will look like! How you’ll function in marriage will be according to the preparations, not buying things, but life preparations you have made by becoming a sound, well groomed lady that can handle a man, children, domestic issues plus your career and still have a sound spiritual life that will cause you to flower in your destiny.

One of the sayings of Rev. Olusola Areogun goes like this… ‘’IF YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING, AYWHERE IS A STARTING POINT’’. In other words, to become the woman described in the above paragraph, you can always start from where you are. It doesn’t matter how naїve, untrained, uninformed, untutored, unprepared and unfit you are, if you plug into the process of God and get hooked by God through His servant into a destiny programme – You will make it.

These three factors make you to become clay in the hands of God to fashion for His glory.

1. Be saved and be converted – don’t just be religious.

2. Be spirit-filled and Holy Ghost-controlled. Don’t just speak in tongues while you do as you wish not as the Holy Ghost wishes.

3. Be settled in spiritual house under a spiritual father that God has ordained for and over your life.

NOTE: (I sense this prophetic flow as I write)

  •  ANY PASTOR OR MAN OF GOD THAT MAKES SEXUAL ADVANCES AT YOU… IS NOT YOUR SPIRITUAL FATHER. If you encounter such, flee from him. He will ruin your destiny absolutely!
  • If you are prone to seducing God’s servants, stop it or you will face the wrath of the head of the church! This year 2011, Jesus is coming upon the church with the fuller’s soap and the refiner’s fire and he will thoroughly purge His floor, BEWARE! Be on the side of the truth, righteousness and holiness. God will only work with those who treasure this says the spirit of the Lord.
Let’s go back to getting ready for destiny marriage…

4. Be practical with your spiritual life in God and destiny.

· Don’t just dress conservatively and don’t know how God speaks to you.
· Don’t become extravagant either and cast off all restraint – lawlessness makes you like the devil.
· Don’t be spiritual leader that is in a financial mess.
· Don’t know to pray without knowing how to cook good food!
· Don’t just go church without going to school
· You are called to master life not to play lip service to the things of God!
Let me share with you briefly some of the things I did as a single lady that propelled me and stabilized me in a destiny marriage.
1. I didn’t follow the crowd or the ‘craze’ that reigned in my generation. I wanted the life that only God could give me so I went after God passionately. Any other life apart from the one God gives will offer you a lesser future.
2. I had to separate from people – no matter who they were, anyone who would pollute, corrupt, weaken or destroy my passion for God, both relatives and friends.
3. I had a destiny company to encourage me on my journey. I companied with people of like passion, who were headed for the same destination.
4. I said and I meant a giant NO to pre-marital sex and got married as a virgin.
5. I observed, watched and learnt from all married people around me – good things to in marriage, bad things to avoid as well.
6. I made the bible – God’s word my standard for living for every area of my life… spiritual financial, marital, health, relationships, career and calling.
Sex, domestics, dressing, dressing and appearance, pregnancy, child birth, child nursing, in-law matters, etc God so good – the Bible is God’s manual on all human subjects! STUDY IT!
7. I hooked myself with God’s help of divine leading – to the assignments of my destiny in the spiritual house that God chose for me to be planted and grow. This literarily spelt out my destiny.
8. I married the man God choose and not the one I liked or desired. This has a made marriage heaven on earth for me.
9. I allowed God to dictate the details of my practical life – such as, my style of dressing and appearances, my friends, the number of children I am to have and when to have them, where to live, where to work, when to leave secular work for ministry work, who to allow in my circle of influence, what to have as my possession, etc.
This is what draws divine favour and approval from God.
10. Lastly for this edition … I fell in love with TRINITY – the Father, the Son – Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
This is my foundation of all fellowshipping with God regularly in prayers, worship, the word and obeying His wish.

Young lady, come along with me on this road I’ve trod for some time now. It leads to somewhere great. May you be the lady/woman God has ordained you to be in Jesus’ name.

Daughters of destiny programme have really changed my life. I used to think it would be like every sisters’ meeting where frivolous issues are discussed and later you eat and go away because your leader does not know any better than you. But at D.O.D, crucial matters affecting life and destiny are discussed. It is like an elementary school that sets the foundation. I mean the mindset of young sisters. I particularly left home a novice, have never left home before till I got into the university. I know as much as my mum taught me and picked some other things from different people. When I started attending D.O.D meetings. I realized what my values are as a female going somewhere to happen. Mummy spoke about our worth so much that we now see ourselves as “queen”. Also, my spiritual life received a boost-studying, praying, intercession, etc. I also became more sensitive to issues of my life and learnt to pray more. B.A

Question and Answer

Question: Is it right for one’s fiancé to say things like; I like your shape, I like your hips or wow! Your boobs turn me crazy?

Answer: it is dangerous; let me say this because that means he can see more of your body than your person takes him to see a matured man of God for counseling. It is not that your fiancé should not like your shape but be careful of thoughts that leads to sexual immorality. What type of dress have you been wearing to see him? Do you dress provocatively that we see everything despite that you are not fat, you know there are some of us that are a little bit fat somehow your body feel the cloth but some of you, you are not fat, you still the tailor to slim your cloth down. Do you throw your body at his face? This also means that he has really been considering your body and very soon if he has not been doing it he will start laying hands on you. He likes your shape but that is not the time for that now and because such words won’t leave you the same, also next time you are going to meet him; you too want to make those hips to show. Unconsciously your relationship will be drifting from what it should be and begin to center around each other’s body and one day, he’s going to grab those hips and you may not be able to predict where things will stop. When you are in a relationship, you don’t know the level of sexual experience of each person, some are virgins, some are not and there is a level each person gets to in the flesh that he may not be able to control what he does with the body after that, if he has begun to say that it means he has already seen you in that sexual mode. That you are married doesn’t mean you can start considering each other’s body sexually. If in courtship you start focusing on each other’s body, very soon what you like, you will start to hold, so such a language is not healthy. That’s why I said you should take him for counseling because of course he is noting it and it is something he should control himself over it and not to start expressing but he has started the first step which is expressing it by saying “I love this” and you say “Thank you”. Instead of telling him, “How could you say that? Is that what you know about me?” Once he starts to grab your hips and your breast and you start enjoying the feel (for most of you that have done that before and repented, you know what I’m talking about) which is wrong for you to do, you start destroying something precious in your soul and in your person. So don’t even encourage such things, it is not time for that, don’t start considering each sexually, when you are not married, because you may not be able to control what you are going to do once you set your heart on it, it is like a fire you kindle it, you may not be able to stop the flow. Unrestricted sexual consideration begins on your wedding day. Don’t dress to kill, when I comment about your mini skirt, I have the jealously of a mother over you just like I will tell my daughter, I am not trying to control your freedom, but preventing you from doing things that can endanger your life and destiny. Of what good is it to you when you sit in class and all your colleagues are looking straight into your thigh? What has done to you? Does it make you feel more civilized or make you feel on top of the world? You are only gradually becoming cheap to men, and then the one that can’t control his passion is the one that will go after you’ but he won’t tell you that the way sat in class last week and the way he saw your “holy sanctuary” has made him come after you, if he tells you, will not agree to be his friend. He will shorten your name and say “I just love you; in fact every time I think about you, you make me mad”. He will tell you something you will enjoy, so that he can have straight way ticket to your” holy sanctuary” and so you must be careful.
